after su yi died , the family expected get something from her.

because she already prepared her will.

 

 

Probrem 1. Your regular table at the fabulous restautant on the

exclusive island where you own a beach house is unavailable.

 

probrem 2. The twenty-four-hour-on-call personal physician that

you have on a milion-dollar annual retainer is busy attending to

another patient.

 

probrem 3. Your airplane is forced to land before you can finish

drinking your dom perignon.

Daisy: the other girls her age are dressed up like christmas tress but

just look at Astrid...hair in a sleek ponytail, ballet flats,

not a drop of jewlry except that cross....is it turquoise?

of every middle aged old-money singaporean heiress

(over the next sixty-three years, ah ling rose from being one of twelve

junior maids to become one of the young family's most trusted

and even though she (su yi)was a difficut woman , even though she drove me

crazy half the time and i was never ever quite good enough for her exacting

standars, my heart is broken. I will miss her every day and every hour

for the rest of my life. My only regret was that i wasn't there with her 

at the moment of her passing.

queen mother but she's called the dowager sultana.)

Ah ling: "your Ah ma was very generous to me, and i will alwys be

grateful to her. For the first few decades i worked here, she 

frightened me to death. She was not the easist woman to please,

but i think in the last twenty years or so, she came to see me as

a friend and not just a servant.

(ah ma means su yi. She wrote the detailed things in her will.

after she died, she left money even for helpers and servans.

( charlie and astrid were couple and they loved each other.

but astrid parents does't allow her to get marry to him.

becuase they looked down on charlie's family.

both of them got marrid with their own. But marrage failed.

Astrid had a difficult times with her husband and chalie 

was still there to listen to her and encourage her.)
