She has been at stanford university for twenty years.

그녀는 미국의 명문대학 스탠퍼드 대학교에서 교수로 재직 중이다.

Also, she is on the faculty of d. school.

또한 창조 학교라고 불리는  스탠퍼드 대학교 디자인 스쿨, d , school의 교수로도 재직하고 있다.

She has a phd in neuroscience.

신경과학분야 박사학위를 가지고 있다.

But she ended up teaching entrpreueurship engineers.

그러나 기업가정신의 엔지니어들을 가르치는 일을 결국에는 하고 있다.

How does she do that?

어떻게 그렇게 직업을 바꿀 수 있었을까?

The  anwer is she reframes her skills to create new opportunities over and over again.

정답은 그녀가 새로운 기회를 만들기 위해서 기술들을 다시 연마하고 다시 또 재정비했기 때문이다.

 

I have selected some of my favorite , memorable sentences from the book and I want to share it with you.

본문의 내용에서 내가 가장 좋아하는 문장들과 기억에 남는 문장들을 여러분들과 공유해 보려고 한다.

 

The key to success is the ability to extract the lessons out of every experience and to move on with that new knowledge.

성공의 열쇠는 모든 경험으로부터 교훈을 뽑아내는 능력이며 그 새로운 지식과 함께 앞으로 나아가는 것이다. ( p. 12 )

 

The  takeaway message is that your attitude is the biggest determinant of what you can accomplish

핵심은 당신의 태도가 당신이 무엇을 성취할 수 있는가에 대한 가장 큰 결정요인이며 

and you alone control your attitude. (p.17 )

당신 만이 태도를 통제할 수 있다는 것이다. 

 

We define ourselves by our profession, our income, where we live, the car we drive, our education, and even by our horoscope.

우리는 우리 자신을 직업, 수입, 어디에 사는지, 어떤 차를 운전하는지, 교육 수준 그리고 심지어 별자리가 무엇인지에 의해 정의를 내린다.

In this sentence, she uses this expression " a leaf in the wind".

이 문장에서 그녀는 "바람에 떠다니는 나뭇잎"이라는 표현을 썼다.

I like this. She is like a poet.

이 표현이 좋았다. 그녀는 마치 시인 같다.

Follow your gut.

I've met many students who literally show me a detailed map of what they plan to do for the next fifty years.

나는 나에게 다음 50년을 무엇을 할지의 계획을 자세하게 설계한 인생 설계도를 보여주는 학생들이 많이 만났다.

Not  only is this realistic, but it's sadly limiting.

이것은 현실적이지 않을뿐더러 슬프게도 너무 제한을 두는  계획이다.

I literally changed careers every 2 yrs after graduated from school until I finally found a career that fit.

나는 학교를 졸업한 후 나에게 맞는 직업을 찾을 때까지 사실상 매 2년마다 직업을 바꿨다.

I was forty-one years old!

Most  important, non of my prior experiences were a waste of time, even though they were'nt perfect.

Some people reassess and readjust their lives daily or weekly , constantly optimizing. (P. 109)

Yes, he was fortunate to sit next to someone who was influencial in helping him get a job at salomon brothers.

but hundreds of people sat next to that woman over the years, and she didn't convince her husband to hire them.

그러나 몇 년 동안 그 여성의 옆자리에 앉은 사람들은 수백 명이었고 그녀는 그들을 고용하는 게 어떻겠냐고 그녀의 남편을 설득하지 않았어요.

운은 당신에게 일어나는 어떤 것이다.

CHANCE  requires an action on your part.

기회라는 것은 당신이 행동을 취해야 한다.

You need to take a chance, such as rolling dice, buying a lottery ticket, to benefit from a chance event.

당신은  어떠한 기회로부터 이익을  얻기 위해서 주사위를 던지거나, 복권을 사는 등의 시도를 해야만 한다.

LUCK is made by finding and creating opportunites.

행운은 기회를 만들거나 찾음으로써 만들어진다.

It is a direct consequences of your behavior.

그것은 당신이 하는 행동의 직접적인 결과다.

Being observant, open-minded, friendly, and optimistic invites luck your way. (P.124 )

관찰자적인, 마음이 열려있는, 친절한 그리고 긍정적인 사람이 당신 쪽으로 운을 끌어당긴다.

Grtitude는 고마워하는 것을 말한다.

APPRECIATION  is the act of showing gratitude.

Appreciation은 고마움을 보이는 행위를 말한다.

Because  so few people actually do this unfortunately, you will stand out from the crowd. (P.138)

불행히도 아주 소수의 사람들이 감사함을 표시하기 때문에, 여러 당신은 눈에 띄게 될 것이다.

Always  show appreciation to those who help you. (P.151)

당신을 도운 사람들에게 항상 고마움을 표시하라.

Do the right thing, as opposed to the smart thing.

똑똑한 것에 반대되는 옳은 것을 시행하라.

Almost  everything in life is done in teams, and those who don't know how to make others successful are at a huge disadvantage.

 인생은 드레스를 맞추는 리허설이 아니다.  항상 최선을 다하기 위해 두 번의 기회를 가질 수 없다.

해 당신이 가지고 있는 이럴 것이다 라는 전제에 도전하도록 하라.

 

 

I took a group of 15 stanford students to south africa for 2 weeks to learn about innovation in this developing economy.

나는 스탠퍼드 대학의 15명의 학생들과 2주 동안 개발경제의 혁신에 대해 배우기 위해서 남아프리카를 갔다.

Although all were stanford students, it was clear that their past experiences had a huge impact on how they experienced the country.
비록 모두가 스탠퍼드 학생들이었지만, 분명한 것은 그들의 과거 경험들이 어떻게 그들이 그 나라를 경험하는가에 큰 영향을 미친다는 것이었다. (P.188)

 

 

밑줄 친 부분은 동사이다.

독해할 때 동사만 먼저 찾아도 반은 해결이 된다.
